COCH
An
independent Punk label from Wales. Recordiau Coch issued at
least four singles, one EP and one LP in the period 1979-81, all but one of
which featured the band Trwynau Coch, whose label it was - they had previously
had a couple of EPs out on the Sgwar label (q.v.). Numbering
was initially in an RCTC-0 numbering series, but the band's last single and
their LP, 'Rhedeg Rhag Y Torpidos' (SAIN-1186; 1980) were handled by Sain
Records and had Sain catalogue numbers. The first Coch single was a 12",
and the two releases that followed were a various artists EP and a split
single. My pocket Welsh dictionary says that 'Coch' means 'red' and
'Trwyn' 'nose'. So there you go.
