CRIMINAL (CRM prefix)
One of many ephemeral DIY / Punk / New Wave labels from
the golden age of such things, 1978. There were three Criminal labels in the
'70s, one mainstream and two DIY; this particular Criminal was the first to
appear. It issued only one
record, China Street's 'You're A Ruin' b/w 'Your M.P.' (CRM-1, 2/78). China Street, who
were from Lancaster, went on to make a second single, 'Rock Against Racism' b/w
'Dubbage' for EMI (EMI-2864; 10/78), which may have led to
Criminal becoming redundant. Thanks to Robert Bowes for the
scan.
