DADDY'S HOME
Daddy's Home is probably best
described in its own words - it claimed to be "Britain's first and only doo-wopper
label". Sadly it only ran to one release, a single coupling
a pair of vintage American tracks: 'My Tears' by The Treasures, and The
Cleartones' 'Sad And Blue'. The catalogue number of the single was
101; its matrix number, WO-2351, was taken from a series used by manufacturers
C.H. Rumble (q.v.). There are no dates on the labels but the single
was reviewed - very positively - in 'Record Mirror' of the 17th of November
1973. The man behind Daddy's Home was discographer and Soul Music
enthusiast Roy Simonds, and the company operated out of premises in Sudbury
Town, Wembley. Pictures of the review and of an advert for the record can be seen on the 45cat site . Thanks to Walk2013 of that site for permission to use his scan here.
