DE LANE LEA MUSIC CENTRE
The label of the famous
recording studio. De Lane Lea was founded by Jacques De Lane Lea in 1947,
in London. Initially it worked upon film soundtracks but it
broadened its scope and went on to record famous names including The
Who, The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix. Its record labels appear to
feature mainly on acetates, but they can be found on a couple of vinyl singles
by a girl band called The Sovereign Collection, and therefore
it qualifies for a place on this site. The singles are 'Rolling In
Love' b/w 'I Only Dreamed You', which according to the Discogs site has a matrix
number of SCLE-1 and was pressed by Orlake, and 'Say It Once Again' b/w 'A Day
Like Yesterday'. The latter pairing can also be found on the Sovereign
Collection label (q.v.). There's no date on either of the singles, but the
45Cat site gives 1972 for 'Rolling In Love', which is reasonable - the company
was using that style of label in that year. Both of them are very
collectable. In both cases the labels look as though they have
been stuck on over plain white ones.
