DINGLE SPIKE / SPIKE
An outlet for records by
Dingle Spike, a London-based band that played Irish Folk. The band was
responsible for five self-financed records from 1978 to 1987, all of them
made through custom recording firm SRT. Their first record, an LP
called 'Dingle Spike', had SRT's logo-free plain labels, but their
second, a single pairing 'From Clare To Here' with 'Home By Bearna / The Fermoy
Lasses' (SRTS/79/CUS-507; 1979), shown above, had their name on the labels
twice, once in a large enough font for me to treat it as a label name. The
next two releases had white labels with 'Spike Records' on them, along with
a 'spike' logo. For the last, the only reference to Spike was on the
picture sleeve. Pressing of the first two records was by Orlake.
