EAP
Borderline, this one. I don't
usually include advertising records on this site, except as demonstrations of the
products of companies such as Lyntone (q.v) - there are just too many of
them, and I didn't want to clutter the place up with hundreds of pages featuring
records with labels such as 'Barclays Bank' or 'Burnley Building Society'.
In this case, however, the firm behind the EAP demonstration disc was a bona
fide record company, so I've decided to make an executive decision and include it,
for the sake of interest. Ray Anderson's EAP -
East Anglian Productions - was a firm which specialized in the production of jingles, for
use in radio stations. Its EAP label output was almost entirely
on albums of the '100 Jingles' kind (it put out four
LPs during 1976-77, numbered in an EAP-1000 series) but in
1978 it made available to interested parties an EP with selections of typical jingles on
it, taken from its back catalogue. As well as producing jingles
it also made commercials, and it had a recording studio. In addition it was involved in the
production of documentary albums about offshore radio stations. It is
still going today and part of its business is still concerned with radio, dealing
in offshore / pirate radio memorabilia. Anderson was also behind another 'jingles' label, Jumbo (q.v.).
