EBONY

A Disco / Funk label / Rock, operative in 1977-78.  'Music Week' of the 10th of September 1977 revealed that John Hall of Good Earth (q.v.) had joined with Phil Swern's 'Tin Lid Productions' to start Ebony, which was to be launched via RCA later in the month.  It went on to issue some fifteen singles, several of which came out in the 12" format as well as the 7".  The 12" singles had EYEC-0 catalogue numbers; the 7"s were numbered in the EYE-0s, and they reached at EYE-16.   There were also a handful of albums.  Despite a couple of contributions by past-and-future-hit-makers the Rah Band, none of Ebony's singles ever charted.  The label changed design with EYE-12, losing some if its visual impact but gaining a black horse logo (2).  Manufacture and distribution remained by RCA throughout.  Thanks to Robert Bowes for the fourth scan.
