FORCE
Another one of those
cases where I can do little more than note the existence of a label and provide
a scan. Force was responsible for at least one record, an EP by a band
called The Nights Show Group. In addition to the tracks shown on the scan
above, the EP offered versions of 'Girl I Left In The Rain' - a David
Gates song - and 'High Heeled Sneakers'. Its catalogue number, SRS-7089,
was taken from a series that was used by custom recording firm Studio
Republic (q.v.). There's no date on the record but comparison with other
Studio Republic numbers enables us to say that it's from 1970 or 1971, with the
latter being more likely. The pressing marks are typical of
those which can be found on Linguaphone products of the time, and the songs
are Club / Pub / Cabaret material with saxophone or flute adding a distinctive
touch. The presence of the EMI-style 'Demo Record Not For Sale' text is
puzzling: it's difficult to imagine such an obscure record existing in
both demo and issue forms - was the EP was intended solely as a promotional tool? Any more information about the band or the label would be welcome
