HARP

A Welsh label; based in
Resolven, which is roughly five miles north-east of Neath. To judge
from the few of its products that I have seen listed, Harp
seems to have issued a mixture of traditional Welsh material and Pop, though Robert Bowes, who
was kind enough to supply the scan of the Relay single, says that
the music on that particular record is reminiscent of the Steve Miller Band. Harp started issuing
records c.1971, using three numerical series, HSP-1000 for
singles, HEP-500 for EPs and HLP-100 for LPs. The most recent
numbers I have found were HSP-1037, Trevor Morgan's 'Star Of Bethlehem',
which came out in 1987, and HEP-507, 'Isn't It Amazing' by Carl James,
which appeared in 1988. The few Harp 7" records that googling currently reveals are
listed below. Thanks to Barry Adcock for providing the 'Freshwater
Spring' scan.
