HOMESPUN

Irish; the Dublin arm of
Billy McBurney's Belfast-based Outlet Records (q.v.). Shannon Records
(q.v.), a specialist in importing and distributing Irish labels, brought a few
Homespun singles into the U.K. in the Seventies, but as
imported labels don't qualify for this site that wouldn't be
enough to justify Homespun getting a page here. However, Shannon didn't ordinarily advertise its
imported singles in the weekly 'New Singles' leaflet published by Francis Antony Ltd, and
there were three Homespun single listed in it during 1978-79,
which suggests that they may perhaps have been made available over here
as bona fide U.K. releases. It seems unlikely that pressings were made over here but because of
their apperance in 'New Singles' as well as 'Music Master' I'm giving Homespun
the benefit of the doubt and including it on this site. 'To Daddy'
b/w 'Sunday School To Broadway' by Leon (HS-024; 12/78) was listed in 'New Singles' but
not in 'Music Master'. Another of Leon's singles, 'Satan's Jewel Crown' b/w 'God Bless
The Children' (HS-029; 11/79), and American Express's 'The Union Mare And The
Confederate Grey' (HS-030; 11/79) appeared in both of those publications. Homespun made a
more concentrated foray into the U.K. market in the 1980s, with manufacture and distribution through
Spartan. Thanks to Sporidium of the 45cat site for the use of his scan
here.
