JAYBEE

There appears to have been only one record on the Jaybee label, Ben Gunn's 'Wembley 77' (JB-1; 1977).  The same single was issued on Klub in that same year (KLUB-05), which suggests that it may have been recorded by Jaybee, picked up by the bigger company and given a wider release.  There is however a second possibility: that Jaybee was a Northern Irish label - the (P) on the label is usually an indicator of Irish origins - which leased the Klub recording and issued it over there.  Presumably the song celebrated the Scotland football team's victory over the England team at Wembley that year.  Gunn also recorded an anthem for the Scotland team's 1982 World Cup venture, 'Viva Scotland' (Lismor, LISP-2006).  Thanks to Robert Bowes for the scan, and for bringing the label to my attention.
