JEM

A DIY label.  'All I Wont To Do Is Love You' b/w 'Darling Jill' by British Country & Western band Jon Derek & Country Fever would seem to have been JEM's only release.  It came out in 1975; there's no catalogue number on the labels, and the matrix numbers, 578 X-A and 578 Y-B, don't fit any series that I've happened upon.  According to the label JEM was based at the same address as the Jon Derek Appreciation Society, in Hornchurch, so presumably it was a fan-club financed record.  The presence of a string section and a flautist on the record - it's towards the 'MOR' end of the Country spectrum - suggest that some money was spent on the production.  Working together or separately Jon Derek and Country Fever also recorded for Decca, Westwood, Real, Pye and Lucky (q.v. all) during the '70s.  The pressing marks on the labels indicate that manufacture was by Linguaphone.
