JOY (BECK prefix)
A DIY label from Earls Barton, Northampton. This Joy
appears to have been the vehicle for just the one record, which featured vocal
and instrumental versions of a song called 'We Gave An Inch'. The lyrics
of the song were by Joyce Boule-Hanna, who, according to the singles' picture
cover, was also responsible for production and distribution. The music was
written by Patrick Morris. There were no artist credits as such on the
labels, but the vocals on the 'A' side were by Pinches and Bennett. The
record was made through Beck Studios, of Wellingborough, and its catalogue
number, BECK-778, was taken from a series used by that company. There are
no dates on either the labels or the cover, but comparison with other Beck
records indicates that it came out in 1978 or 1979. Joyce Boule-Hanna went
on to enjoy success in a different field, literally - she founded the New Lodge
vineyard.
