KÄRNTEN HISTORICAL RECORDS

A peculiar one.  Kärnten (otherwise known as Carinthia) is a province in southern Austria, but the label which bore its name appears to have been based in Britain - what seem to have been its only two releases were made through Craighall Studios (q.v.) of Edinburgh.  The records in question were anonymous EPs, each featuring four songs from the Nazi era.  The first offered 'Horst Wessel Lied', 'Bomben Auf England', 'March Der Deusche Afrika Corps' and 'March Der Legion Condor'.  It came out in 1972 and had a catalogue number of TD-7074, which was taken from one of the series used by the studios.  The style of the matrix number in the run-off suggests that British Homophone was responsible for the pressing.  The second followed in 1973 and featured 'Marsch Der Hitler Jungend', 'Laura, Laura', 'Kampf Lied Der N. S. D. A. P.' and 'Parody Der Seigfried Line'.  It was numbered TD-7096.  Both the identity of the people who released the EPs and the reason why they did so remain mysteries to me, but I would guess that sales must have been minimal.  Thanks to Stephen Small for letting me know of the label's existence and for supplying scans.  If anyone knows of any other Kärnten Historical Records I'd be intrigued to hear of them.
