N.R.G / NRG

Another one of those independent labels from the late '70s.  NRG was based in Dundee.  It seems to have released just three singles: 'Jerkin' b/w 'Push And Shove' by the Drive (RE-46; 8/1977); 'No Answers' b/w 'Kid Don't Know' by The Alternators (SRTS/NRG-001; 1/1978); and the Visitors' 'Take It Or Leave It' b/w 'No Compromise' (NRG-002; 2/1978).  The label name lost its full stops between the first and second singles.  Lyntone pressed the first, while the second and third were made through SRT with Orlake doing the pressing.  The Drive single is listed on some sources as having the number NE-456, but the only labels pictured on google have the RE-46 number, as shown above.  The RE-40 series appears to have been used by Radio Edinburgh Studios for custom pressings (see REL) so presumably the Drive record was recorded there - it is reported to have been made in Edinburgh.  Thanks to James Trash of the 45Cat site for the first scan and to Simon Hughes for the second.
