ODEON (ODN
prefix)
This particular Odeon
label appears to have been a small independent. It issued two singles in
the mid '70s, Contrast's 'When I Am A Kid' b/w 'Love Was A Game' (ODN-001)
and 'Seagulls' b/w 'Dirty Old Guitar' by Ted Young (ODN-002;
1976). Neither had a date on it, but a website dedicated to
the TV talent show 'New Faces' mentions Young appearing on the programme in March
1976. It describes him as a busker / one man band, and says that he released 'Seagulls'
in that same year. 'Seagulls' is about Brighton &
Hove Albion Football Club, rather than the birds, so I presume that the
Odeon label came from that part of the country. Thanks to
Klepsie of the 45cat site for a 'heads up' about
the 'New Faces' site.
