P.M.B. RECORDING
An obscurity. P.M.B.
Recording seems to have been a small independent concern, possibly from the East
Midlands or Yorkshire. It was responsible for at least one record under
its own label, an EP entitled 'Five Minutes With Alan' featuring Club / Cabaret
singer Alan J. Vause; the 'Shade' on the scan above appears to be the name of
the backing group. The EP offered versions of 'I'm Falling', 'In Dreams',
'Love Is All' and 'Catari'. Its catalogue number was PMB-111; a 'CRS' in
the run-off suggests that the master was cut by that company, while the pressing
marks look like those of a Linguaphone product. The only other record in
the PMB-100 series that I've found is PMB-117, which was on the Venal label
(q.v.). That single came out in September 1979, which enables us to be
sure that the Alan J. Vause record is from the '70s, probably around 1978.
The credits on its label include thanks to 'Phil from Shade', which is another
link between the two releases. Presumably PMBs 112 to 116 are out there
somewhere, and possibly there may be others. Any information about the
label or the missing discs would be welcome.
