POLLEN
Pollen was the label of the Pollen recording studios, of Haxby,
Yorkshire. It put out records by the usual sort of Club / Cabaret
artists who used the services of custom recording firms, but it also came up
with a few collectables including a couple of singles by Mod / Punk
band Sema 4, 'If I ever Know' (PBM-022; 1979), and 'Capital City' (PBM-024;
S/79/CUS-512; 1979). Albums, EPs and singles alike generally shared a
PBM-000 numerical series, which seems occasionally to have been used as a matrix
number rather than a catalogue number. A couple of records made through
Ric-Rac Sound Studios of Leeds had their own RRS-000 series - see the 'Ric-Rac
Sound' page. The Pollen records I've managed to trace up to 1981 are
listed below, with the albums being in square brackets. Some are on Pollen, some on other
labels. The highest number I've seen so far was PBM-081, an album called
'Today' by the Dore Male Voice Choir, which came out in 1985. Records made
through SRT tend to have that company's plain labels, as shown in the fourth
scan, which Nicholas Hough has kindly provided.
