P. R.

The label of Progress Records, of Blackpool,
which appears to have been another one of those custom recording concerns,
catering for Club / Cabaret artists who wanted to make a record and were
prepared to finance it themselves. The only five of its products
that I have seen, either on the net or in the vinyl, are listed
below. Numbering was in the PR-1000s for singles, EPs and LPs alike, and
it reached at least PR-1031, which leaves an awful lot of records
unaccounted for. There were no dates on the labels, but Neil Thompson, who
brought the P. R. label to my attention, reports that the Poteen single 'Green
Valleys' (PR-1016) dates from 1976. Labels came in black as well as
in blue, the Mike Slater EP being an example. The Eddie Burnett EP shown
above was pressed by Orlake.
