A Reggae label, owned by Dennis Bovell. Rama issued at least five 7" singles, including the one shown above: 'The Dreadlocks Connection' by Y. Ely (CJ-617). If the catalogue numbering series is anything to go by, Rama seems to have been associated with the Lovers Rock label, which numbered its singles in the CJ-600s; though the earliest Rama single, Dennis Matumbi's 'Blood Ah Go Run' (CJ-6 N; 1976) only shared the prefix. The label, which also released several LPs and at least one 12" single, seems to have been operative during 1976-77.
