RBA
A small independent or DIY label. RBA seems to have been
responsible for just one record, a single by singer Joanna Starr of Harrogate.
The tracks on the single were versions of 'My World Is Getting Smaller Every
Day' and 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You'. There's no date on the labels but
Joanna appeared on the 'New Faces' talent programme in January 1975, so it seems
likely that the record was made not long afterwards. The labels were dark
blue with silver printing; they had 'RBA RECORDS' at the top, in two lines, and
they bore a distinct family resemblance to those used by Stuart Johnson
Productions (q.v.) in or around 1976. Joanna also made an album, 'Portrait
Of A Starr', which appears to have been issued only in Canada, on Yorway Records
(YRY-1101). There was no date on that, either. I'd guess that RBA
was the management company that Joanna was with, but, as I say, that's only a
guess. Additional information, or a scan, would be welcome.
