REVOLUTION SOUL
Logically enough, Revolution Soul was the Soul arm
of Dave Hadfield's and John Harper's Revolution Records. It issued
singles during 1969-70 using a REVS-500 catalogue series, which
reached REVS-505 - I haven't been able to trace 503 or 504, and it is possible
that they were not issued. Initially distribution was by Immediate
records, but 'Record Retailer' of the 11th of July 1970 says that a three-year distribution deal had been signed with RCA. It also says that REVS-504
was due to come out in a month's time, but there's no sign
of that record online. Revolution also had labels dedicated to Pop, Reggae /
Rocksteady and Classical (q.v. all); they shared the same basic
label design but came in discrete colours. Thanks to Ian Pakes
of the 45cat site for the use of his scan
here.
