RMA

Apparently a one-off DIY label. An EP by Barry Richards featuring
covers of 'Mona Lisa', My Boy', 'My Woman My Wife' and 'Words' seems to have been RMA's only release.
It had a catalogue number of RMA-101. There's no date on the labels but manufacture
was by Orlake and the pressing marks indicate that it was made no later than
1975 - if I were forced to put money on a year, that would be the one. The
material on the EP is fairly typical Club /
Cabaret fare, though 'Mona Lisa' calls Shakin' Stevens to mind and is a cut
above the average. The EP was engineered by Roy Neave, who
worked at Fairview Studios of Hull, suggesting that the EP originated there; the
reference to Gough & Davy of Hull on the label provides a bit of support for
that theory. Barry Richards went on to have an EP out on the CMP
label (q.v.) in 1976 and added a couple of self-financed albums on SRT (q.v.) in
1978 / 1980.
