RUPERT HART-DAVIS
A well-known and well-respected book publishing company, Rupert
Hart-Davis earned a place on this site by being responsible for a couple of EPs
by a group called Piccadilly Circus in the early '70s, both of which were
intended to go with a language course, 'English Fast'. The first volume,
'Hello', offered the songs 'Hello', 'What's Matilda Doing Now', 'I Don't
Understand You' and Every Morning'; it came out in 1970 and was numbered
0-247-54430-2. The second volume, 'Everytime', came out the following year
and featured 'All My Beautiful Friends', 'Look At These Hands' and 'I'm Going
Home' in addition to the title track. It had the number 0-247-54442-6, and
its printing was silver rather than black. The material on the first
volume was quirky acoustic Pop, while the lyrics on both had a somewhat
psychedelic air because they were made up of simple phrases that could be useful
to people studying the language. Manufacture of the first EP, and possibly
the second, was by Orlake.
