SCOTTISH CIVIC TRUST / FACELIFT GLASGOW

A one-off label run by the Scottish Civil Trust.  The Trust released a single by Robin Hall & Jimmy MacGregor, 'The Litter Bug Song' b/w 'Let Glasgow Flourish', in aid of its 'Facelift Glasgow' operation.  There's no date on the labels.  The Trust started out in 1969 but the single's being stereo means that it's more likely to be from the 70's than the late '60s, and the pressing marks suggest an Orlake product from no later than 1975.  'Facelift Glasgow' was referred to in a 1971 debate in the Houses of Parliament, which at least shows that the operation was under way at that time.  The company through which the single was made, Scottish Records of Aberdeen, was still issuing records until at least the 1970s, but sadly its 7" releases seem all to have been from the 1960s, so it failed to gain a place on this site.  I was undecided as to whether to call the label 'Facelift Glasgow' or 'Scottish Civil Trust' but I decided to go with the prefix of the catalogue number - SCT-1 - rather than the logo.  Thanks to Stephen Small for bringing the record to my attention and for supplying the illustration.
