SHELBY COUNTY
There seems to have been just the one release on the Shelby County
label: an EP of songs by various Rockabilly artists, 'Shelby County Country'.
The tracks were 'Get With It' by Marcus Van Story, 'Way Down Blues' and
'Goodbye Marie' by Malcolm Yelvington, and 'Rockin' With Red' by Red Hadley;
the artists were involved in more tracks than just the ones which bear
their names, however. Charlie Feathers played on at least one of the
tracks, 'Get With It'. The catalogue number of the EP was 001. There is no date
on the labels, but according to an insert which came with the record
the tracks were recorded in Memphis in May 1974 at the instigation
of Martin Hawkins, of Ashford, Kent, who was doubtless
the man behind the EP and the label. Thanks to Steve Hill for drawing my attention
to Shelby County.
