SIX PACK

Six Pack was a somewhat
idiosyncratic concern. Its products were all picture discs, and the
fact that they came in a stand-up sleeve suggests that they were intended to be
looked-at as much as played. There were four of them, and, as the
label's name suggests, they were mostly six-track EPs - the Arthur Brown disc
ended up a track short. In addition to Brown the artists featured were
Captain Beefheart, Steve Hillage and Ian Matthews. The material was licensed from the appropriate companies; the
tracks vary in age and the years on the labels seem
to refer to when they were first published, which makes dating the
Six Pack releases somewhat dubious. It seems likely that they
were released together, and as the Steve Hillage record
has '1979' on it it seems reasonable to say that 1979 would be
the earliest probable date. Catalogue numbers were in the SIXPACK-0s. Thanks to Sam Mauger for
bringing the label to my attention, and to BillyTwo of
the 45cat site for the use of his sleeve scan
here.
