SPINNING WHEEL
A Reggae label; part of the
Trojan group. Spinning Wheel arrived in 1970 and departed in 1971,
releasing ten singles in the process. Catalogue numbers were
in an SW-100 series, and one design was used
throughout. The text 'Made in England' appeared on
records from SP-107 onwards. Pressing of the Upsetters' single shown above was by
Orlake; it is probable that the others singles were also manufactured by that
firm, but I haven't seen any of them in the vinyl to be able to confirm
that. If you've got some, look for plus signs separating the component
parts of the matrix numbers, as in SW+100+A; that's generally a good
indicator.
