STAY ALIVE

A DIY label,
apparently a one-off. In the early '70s Jason Conrad of Matlock came up
with the concept of the Green Cross Code Man, and developed it with the
assistance of ROSPA. Clad in the costume he took his 'Stay Alive
Show' to schools in Derbyshire in 1974 before touring nationwide with it.
The single shown above, 'Little Danny Jones' b/w 'The New Revolution Think' was
presumably associated with the show. Its catalogue number was JC-28, and
it was pressed by Pye. There's no date on the label but the 'Collecticus'
site puts it at 1975, which seems reasonable. Jason Conrad didn't feature
in the television campaign; the actor who did that job was David Prowse, who
later went over to the dark side and played Darth Vader in 'Star Wars'
films.
