STIEFEL
The label of the Slough (UK) branch of skincare firm
Stiefel Laboratories. Stiefel was responsible for two EPs in a series
called 'A Refresher Course In Dermatology For General Practitioners', each of
which contained a fifteen-minute lecture recorded by a consultant dermatologist
and narrated by Robert Dougall. They came in fold-out sleeves which
advertised two Stiefel products, 'Spectra-Ban' and 'Oilatum'. Somewhat
oddly the two EPs had the same catalogue number, ECW-1002, which was taken from
a series used by EMI for custom pressings. However, only the first (1) was
actually pressed by EMI; as its label indicates, the second (2) was manufactured
by Lyntone, presumably as a contract pressing - that may account for the
confusion in the catalogue numbers. As the labels show, the records were made in 1973.
