SURF CITY
Surf City seems to have been one of the many DIY labels that made a
brief appearance in the '70s. The only record on the label that I
have been able to trace was a single by the Boer Four, 'The Boers Have Got My
Daddy', which is said to date from 1978. It was recorded at the
Westward Ho! Holiday Centre - presumably the Boer Four provided the
entertainment there. The catalogue number of the single was SCR-101,
and, as can be seen, the label itself was of typical simple DIY
design. The rough inner / smooth outer suggests an Orlake
pressing. Thanks to Sam Mauger for bringing the label to my attention
and to Nicholas Hough for supplying the scan.
