THEME

A small independent label from the Bristol area.  Theme belonged to a company called Doublejay Entertainments, which was run by John (and Jenny?) King out of premises in High Littleton, Avon, BS18.  Doublejay appears to have handled record and TV production, music publishing and artist management.  It placed some of its productions with other companies - an album and single by Shortwave came out on Pye in 1980 - but between 1977 and 1979 it issued three singles on its own label, Theme.  During 1977 and 1978 it also put out two albums and two singles in The Netherlands, on the Doublejay label.  None of the three Theme singles, which were numbered in a TT-0 series, are commonly seen nowadays.  The first of them, 'Follow Me' b/w 'City Limits' by First Reaction (TT-1; 1977), seems to be fairly sought-after; Avenue's 'Hooked On You' b/w 'I'll Go Back' (TT-3; 1979) was pressed in France.
