THE VIKING
It's debatable as to whether or not 'The Viking' qualifies as a
label, but The Viking Hotel, Blackpool, went to the bother of including its logo
in the design so I've given it the benefit of the doubt. The only record
to come out on the label was a souvenir EP, 'A Night At The Viking', featuring
tracks by four artists who were appearing at the hotel at the time; in addition
to the pair shown above it offered 'Quando! Quando!' by resident band
Frame Set, and a version of 'Tie A Yellow Ribbon' by Rob Edyson. The EP
was made through custom recording company Deroy (q.v.) of Carnforth, and it had
one of that company's matrix numbers, DEROY-918, which enables us to pin the
year of release down to 1973. The labels seem to have been pasted over
blank white ones, and on my copy at least they are on the wrong sides.
