TI
A small independent / DIY label from the mid '70s. TI
was responsible for at least a couple of singles, both of them by the Tropic
Isles Steel Band. They were 'Since You're Gone' b/w 'Pallat Woman'
(TI-012) and 'Sixty Million French Men' b/w 'South Of The Border' (TI-013), and
they came out in 1975. The catalogue numbers suggest that there should be at
least one other TI record out there, TI-011, but googling doesn't show any trace
of it and it may not exist. The matrix numbers of 'Since You're Gone' were a
simple '1 A' and '1 B'. Both records appear to have been pressed by Linguaphone.
Presumably the label was named after the first two initials of the band's
name. Arranger Bob Parris is a director / teacher of steel bands and may have
been the driving force behind the record. Thanks to Dr. Doom of the 45Cat site
for bringing TI to my attention.
