TUFTY CLUB ASSOCIATION OF NORTHERN IRELAND

The name of the label says it all, really.  From the mid 1950s into the '90s Tufty the Squirrel was used by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents in that portion of its material which was aimed at children.  He proved popular, so much so that, starting in 1961, Tufty Clubs were formed in various parts of the UK.  The only one of them which issued a record was The Tufty Club Association of Northern Ireland, which put together an EP of songs and stories based on Tufty and his adventures.  It offered a mixture of songs, sung by Christine Patterson, and stories, narrated by Judith Evans; there were ten of them altogether and the total running time was in excess of sixteen minutes, which was pretty generous.  It came out in 1976, which explains the catalogue number, TUFTY-76, and it was made through Outlet Records (q.v), of Belfast.  Thanks to Fokeman of the 45cat site for permission to use his scan here.
