American; out of Denver. A subsidiary of Gulf + Western, Tumbleweed was the brainchild of producer Bill Szymczyk and head of promotion for ABC-Dunhill Larry Ray. It made records between 1971 and 1973, mainly of a stoned Country-Rock nature. Some of its albums made it to Britain through EMI, which handled all the G+W labels; there was also a solitary single released, Danny Holien's 'Colorado' b/w 'Red Wing' (TBW-251; 1/73), which had been a hit for the company in the States. For a single issued by a major company 'Colorado' proved horribly difficult to track down; presumably it didn't sell in any quantity. As can be seen, the credits are in different places on the issue and demo copies, for some reason. The site listed below gives a history and a discography of the US label.
