Many record companies sent New Release information to the Trade Press, the giant in that field being 'Record Retailer', later renamed 'Record & Tape Retailer' and finally 'Music Week'. Over the course of many visits to the British Library I trawled through those publications and assembled a list of catalogue numbers and release dates covering the 1970s. It's in the form of an Excel spreadsheet, and it can be accessed via the link below. There are bound to be typographical errors - transcribing the details was a long and not particularly exciting job - but people who are interested in that kind of thing may find it .... well, interesting. At least I can claim that it's better than nothing.
